Digipak

19/11/13

Today we started to think of ideas and plan for our digipak. Emily and I have made drafts of three different digipak ideas using all of the knowledge we have gained from our own research.

The ideas on this digipak reinforce the natural and raw elements of the acoustic folk genre. We wanted this to be brought forward into our digipak as we felt this was quite important. We also included the guitar found in our treatment to show the musical talent of our unsigned artist.

We have included lyrics flowing along the guitar which is a convention found in digipaks, we have also included the song list on the back.

Not only this we have made the artist name larger than the title of the album as this falls better in the rule of thirds.

This digipak is more focused on the link between the lyrics of the song and the artist. We have taken 'falling upwards' and the natural elements of an outside location and the acoustic guitar. This lead to the artist being shown to be 'falling upwards' as shown in the drawing.

The guitar and brick wall and natural surrounding is carried on throughou this digipak. Again the title of the artist is larger than the title of the album however in this digipak design we have placed it on top due to fitting better in the rule of thirds.

We have also included the list of songs, lyrics and record label logo around the digipak to make it look more professional.

Again the guitar is carried on in this digipak to reinforce the natural, raw elements of the genre. From ideas for our music video we have taken the side shot, extreme close up of the artists face while singing as this conntes the raw talent the artist has but also gives an idea of what the digipak will be about.

We have also taken the idea of a long shot spread across the bottom three panels through all of our digipak ideas and on this one we have taken a shot from our music video storyboard with the artist performing on the stage under a spotlight with his guitar further connoting his talent.

The title of the artist is also larger that the title of the album and we have included the list of songs and a few lyrics for professionalism.

After creating these digipak drafts from doing our research we are going to be asking our target audience for feedback before we create our final digipak. Doing this will help us get a better understanding of what our audience want out of a digipak in our chosen genre.  We can make adaptations the favoured draft to meet the needs of our audience.
